It didn’t take long for fashion designer Richard Nicoll to rise to the top of the fashion scene. In 2003, Dolce and Gabbana decided to purchase his first collection and establish him as a prominent designer. Born in London, England, he was raised in Australia where he first became interested in fashion design for a career. This fall 2009 season, instead of following the trend of dark fall colors, he favors white with shades of gray in this ready to wear line of fashions. Below are my top five picks from Richard’s fall 2009 collection:
The lightweight white jacket seen here has stitching at the borders, down the center of the top, and at the wrist. Raised tabs serve as the decorations on the shoulders. A white belt at the waist complements the jacket. White leggings that mold the natural shape of the legs give this outfit a “snow princess” look. Great for wearing to an informal lunch or fundraiser this fall.

The second ensemble consists of an Asian style jacket with a mandarin collar and a slit up the sides and front. Panels at the sides give this jacket a century old feel but this is in fact very modern. Narrow pants that come to the ankles complete the look. Try combining silver or gold jewelry with this outfit. I’d wear this to any informal event this fall season.
This casual two-piece outfit has some unusual geometric lines across the front. The bust is emphasized with the gray and the white “H” in the center looks like an altered corset line. There is nothing uncomfortable about wearing this, though. Gray pants match the top sleeveless tunic perfectly. Wear this to the office or to school.
Here is a pantsuit with a top with an opaque white covering the bustline and a more sheer white at the collarbone and shoulders. The pants have pleats in the front and a matching belt. Try combining a business jacket with this and you can wear it to the office.
The metallic silver and white top and skirt here looks futuristic enough to come from a sci-fi film. Straight lines and curves decorate the top at the bodice and sleeves. The short skirt has white at the side seams and hem. Try a pair of dark opaque stockings to go with this outfit. Wear this to a nightclub on the weekends this fall season.
